About Marisa
The Fabric of Our World
Marisa DeMaria is a Cleveland born, Puerto Rican, artist. Her style challenges viewers to slowly observe in a fast paced world, becoming acquainted with basic pieces of composition. Her art has lived in her community and around the globe in places like New York, London, Paris, and Norway. Self-taught and always learning, she creates in a home-studio and loves to find new ways to help others exercise their creative muscle -- an ongoing goal for herself and her community.

My work is a collection of abstract movements and shapes, but none of it random. Even the most unexpected brushstroke is determined by intricacies of that moment that are dictated by the hand of that artist. Just as each piece is uniquely engineered by who thinks it into existence, each experience with the artwork is utterly original. I aim to provide that genuine experience to viewers as my paintings challenge them to break down visions and expressions to the basic principles of art. The ambiguity allows the interaction to be fun, personal, and encouraging. I invite everyone who sees my art to slowly and closely observe the very basic aspects of color, line, shape, and texture that form the fabric of the world around us.

Abstract art is expressing something that is not immediately obvious to most, but by no means does that mean it is impossible to understand. I want to usher viewers, artists or not, to be able to connect with abstract work. In our rapidly changing world, I hope to create spaces that you can slow down in, and I genuinely hope my art allows you to do so.
